Influenced by Comics!
Museum of Graffiti proudly exhibited colorful survey of paintings investigating the relationship between street graffiti and iconic comic book characters. The take away is that young children often learn about their artistic gifts after being inspired by simple line drawings and illustrations that make up the most recognizable cartoons. The works presented showed the way graffiti legends such as SEEN, CRASH, ERNI VALES, DOC TC5, REDS and Berlin’s notorious 1UP Crew have not abandoned their deep affection toward superheros even when making the transition from the streets to the studio. Outside the exhibition, we see how this nostalgia to early learning has led graffiti artists to developing their own personal characters like KAWS, ATOMIK, GREG MIKE and more.
