Museum of Graffiti's Private Gallery Pushes Beyond Graffiti with Tristan Eaton's Women of Marvel

After the Museum of Graffiti, stop in to The Private Gallery in Wynwood to see Tristan Eaton: Women of Marvel, a solo exhibition from the world-renowned artist and muralist, on view from December 4, 2024, to mid-January 2025. In the exhibition, Eaton mixes his iconic aesthetic exclusively with female Super Heroes, a move intended to highlight and promote their visibility and explore themes of femininity, strength, and resilience. In the exhibit is an exclusive Tristan Eaton merch shop where you can take hope rare prints, posters, and collectibles that are only available in store!

Tristan Eaton, famed for his freehand spray-painted murals and his role as a pioneering creator in the art toy movement, is a name that resonates across artistic mediums and global collaborations. Whether through his iconic Dunny and Munny art toys in the MoMA’s permanent collection, sending his art to space with NASA, or his bold, large-scale murals across cities from New York to Paris, Eaton’s work consistently captivates. He has also collaborated meaningfully with brands like Versace, Nike, and Hublot, reinforcing his status as a dynamic force in contemporary art.

This new exhibition represents the culmination of Eaton’s groundbreaking year-long collaboration with Marvel. Featuring more than 40 original works, including canvases, ink on paper, and custom prints, the show brings to life Eaton’s personal take on Marvel’s most enduring heroines: Jean Grey, Mystique, She-Hulk, Spider-Woman, and Storm.

The exhibition includes a suite of works connected to Eaton's Women of
Marvel
project, which began with a sold-out “Portrait Collection” of 1,500 fine art prints and continued with the “Action Series” unveiled in Los Angeles in October. For Art Basel, Eaton will debut his latest innovation: the “Mosaic Covers.” Inspired by a legendary Jack Kirby comic cover, these 7” x 10.5” generative prints come encased in premium acrylic slabs, offering a collector’s item unlike any other.

Eaton's unmistakable style and lifelong love of Marvel comics are evident in each piece.

“As a painter I’ve always been drawn to human stories. As a comic book fan I’ve always been enthralled by the powerful art and narrative of Super Hero women. Culturally pervasive, these super powered ladies appear everywhere in our zeitgeist from Roy Lichtenstein paintings to illegally painted subway trains. Now, in a magical dream come true, full circle moment I’m able to bring my own painting style to the iconic Women of Marvel. “

“The timing of this feels perfectly right. It’s a great time to celebrate the power of women in fiction, pop culture and in our everyday lives. I hope this collection elevates those stories as well as the timeless Women of Marvel that inspire us to be heroes in our own right.”

“I’m thrilled to present this body of work at the Museum of Graffiti’s new Private Gallery during Art Basel, a platform that allows me to merge my passion for street art, fine art, and comic book culture in a meaningful way.”
