1997 Vintage Sanford Super Sharpie
Before the oversized marker became a familiar staple, Sanford introduced the Super Sharpie in 1997—a larger-barrel version of the classic Sharpie designed to hold significantly more ink while maintaining a fine writing tip. The original lineup included black, blue, green, and red.
For graffiti writers, the appeal of a marker like this was obvious: more ink in a larger barrel meant more mileage. The Super Sharpie became part of the wider ecosystem of everyday markers that writers experimented with, adapted, and incorporated into their toolkits.
Today, the Super Sharpie is still sold in some form, but the 1997 Sanford-era version is a different piece of the story. The proportions, branding, construction, and vintage packaging reflect an earlier generation of Sharpie products.
Due to its age, functionality is not guaranteed. The ink may have dried out or degraded over the nearly three decades since it was manufactured.
